COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Spartanburg Rescue Mission provided emergency shelter for those in need as temperatures dipped at the end of December — offering crucial support to many in the community.  Spartanburg.com
  • Buddhist monks in the Walk for Peace changed their plan and will not pass through the Upstate as they trek from Fort Worth to Washington, D.C. Their new route takes them through Columbia (per Friday’s update) before they head north in February.  WYFF

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Spartanburg County Public Libraries circulated about 1.5 million items in 2025 with popular titles from novels to the state driver's manual; head librarian Todd Stephens said the collection will add nearly 50,000 new items this fiscal year (to refresh offerings).  The Post and Courier

HEALTH NEWS

  • Officials reported nine new measles cases on Jan. 2, raising the total to 185 in Spartanburg County. Health officials noted that 223 people are in quarantine & one case in North Carolina involved a child who visited the county.  Go Upstate
