CULTURE NEWS

  • A farm-to-table restaurant, The Open Door, will open this week in Pickens, offering burgers, bites and flatbread, while The Tuck and Table in Bryson City offers family dining with a riverfront view. In Simpsonville, rising country music stars will perform at the All Nashville Road Show concert on Feb. 21.  WYFF

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Since early January, Greenville, Anderson, and Pickens counties have been declared in severe drought while Spartanburg remains in moderate drought — officials have announced water conservation measures and adjustments to reservoir releases to address the worsening conditions.  Go Upstate

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health care professionals urge anyone with a sore throat, fever or headache to see a doctor quickly to start treatment within 48 hours. The state reported 3,705 lab-confirmed tests, 838 hospitalizations and 25 flu-related deaths from Dec. 28 to Jan. 3 — officials say the peak week is now easing.  WYFF
  • Health officials report nearly 100 new measles cases have increased the outbreak total to 310 in Spartanburg, with 200 people in quarantine + new exposure notifications issued at Jesse S. Bobo Elementary where quarantined students return to class today.  WYFF

SPORTS NEWS

  • Riverside (14-2) won a boys basketball game 51-34 at home against Eastside (11-4) on Jan. 9, with Sebi Boyogueno scoring 32 points.  Go Upstate
  • Eastside's girls basketball team beat Riverside 54 to 47 in a close game, with Laila Harvey scoring 16 and Tarayah Humbert adding 13 points while Riverside’s Kyndal Haroski and Marley Mangum scored 17 and 13 respectively.  Go Upstate
