ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ In 2025, OneSpartanburg, Inc. brought in 20 projects that delivered $3.5 billion in investment and 1,024 new jobs to Spartanburg County, boosting sectors from computing to aerospace + showing strong local economic growth. Spartanburg.com
- ➤ On Jan. 15, the South Carolina Public Service Commission approved a rate increase for Duke Energy customers that went into effect immediately. Duke Energy Carolinas customers now pay about 84 cents more monthly, while Duke Energy Progress customers are charged roughly $11.20 extra. Go Upstate

- ➤ Passengers at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport are warned to use Confirm ID if they lack a Real ID. The system will become mandatory on Feb. 1 and costs $45 for a 10-day travel pass verified in 10 to 30 minutes so check TSA.gov ahead of time. WYFF
- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Transportation pretreated Upstate roads to prepare for expected snowfall this weekend - crews will deploy over 1200 pieces of snow equipment starting this afternoon in Spartanburg. WYFF
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Two siblings in North Carolina are isolated with measles linked to the Spartanburg outbreak, as local health officials in Buncombe County notify exposed contacts and urge vaccination (MMR protection remains essential). WYFF
- ➤ A measles case was confirmed at Crestview Elementary in Greer on Jan. 14 after an exposure on Jan. 6, and families of students on a nearby bus route were notified (including those from Greer Middle and Greer High) as public health officials work to prevent further spread. Go Upstate
- ➤ A measles case at Starr Elementary has expanded the outbreak to Anderson County, officials said. Anderson County School District Three was notified on Jan. 15 after a person was present on Jan. 7—affected families are being contacted while unvaccinated children are advised to get their MMR shot soon.
