  • Spartanburg residents can join MLK Unity Week with Walk As One on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 9 a.m. at the Robert Hett Chapman III Center for Philanthropy and MLK Community Celebration on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. Volunteer service projects will occur Monday locally.  Go Upstate

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Duke Energy said that starting March 1, customers using 1,000 kWh will see their monthly bill rise by about $0.84—from $148.02 to $148.86. The utility explained the change will help cover costs for Hurricane Helene repairs + grid upgrades to support growing demand.  WYFF

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials report a measles exposure at several Upstate sites including Walmart in Spartanburg, where 124 new cases have been recorded since Tuesday. The outbreak—centered in Spartanburg County—now totals 558 cases amid ongoing quarantine efforts.  WYFF

  • South Carolina Restaurant Week 2026 offers nearly 50 eateries discounted multi-course meals — showcasing local dining from Greenville to Clemson. Today is the final weekend to enjoy these deals as the event concludes on Sunday, Jan. 18.  Go Upstate

  • Liberty High hired Bobby Ruff as its new head football coach on Jan. 16 — replacing longtime coach Paul Sutherland. The Charleston native and former Easley assistant will host a meet-and-greet with fans at the school on Jan. 29 at 6 p.m.  Go Upstate
