- ➤ Spartanburg's long-running Pride festival is being discontinued after years of declining support, with resources shifting to Greenville's Colors of PRIDE Festival (formerly Upstate Black Pride SC) that now draws over 20,000 attendees. A smaller community event will be planned in Spartanburg each fall. Go Upstate
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ An Ode to Mary Jo, an independent film starring Ed Helms, Rhiannon Giddens and Jason Isbell, was filmed across Spartanburg last fall (featuring local spots like Glendale Shoals). The film is in post-production and will premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January 2027. The Post and Courier

- ➤ Spartanburg Police said crews are working to mitigate a mercaptan release from Simpsonville that caused a strong rotten egg smell on Tuesday, which has migrated into the county (it poses no threat and 911 calls are not needed). WYFF
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Jan. 27, Spartanburg County’s measles outbreak added 89 new cases, raising the total to 789, with 557 people in quarantine and 18 hospitalizations as exposures occurred at Dorman High School, New Prospect Elementary, and Inman Intermediate, while 20 additional schools have quarantined students. - ➤ Clemson's 2026 football schedule was announced by the ACC Monday night+ the Tigers will open at Death Valley against North Carolina on Sept. 19, host Miami on Oct. 3, and finish at home versus South Carolina on Nov. 28. WYFF
- ➤ The Carolinas Classic All-Star basketball game set for Mar. 21 at Dorman High School will feature top high school seniors from South Carolina and North Carolina. The South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association announced rosters for both boys and girls, including players Morgan White and Jahzara Leamon. Go Upstate
