CULTURE NEWS

  • Explore a new exhibit at Seneca City Hall through March 31—40 paintings on South Carolina’s slave trade and a meet with artist John W. Jones on Feb. 12 await visitors. Crown & Bloom Coffee in Simpsonville and a Greenville chocolate shop debut new locations next week with fresh treats.  WYFF

EDUCATION NEWS

  • USC Upstate partners with Risepoint to roll out ten online degree programs in June. The new programs target working adults and non-traditional learners with courses in business, leadership, and health, and classes start June 4.  Spartanburg.com

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A 2.3 magnitude earthquake struck Centerville at 11:24 a.m. Tuesday and about 75 people reported feeling the tremor by noon, according to the US Geological Survey.  WYFF
  • Cleanup is underway after Kinder Morgan’s Spartanburg facility experienced diesel spill Sunday night at 10 p.m. at the Products (SE) Pipe Line facility, where diesel leaked into catch basin and Four Mile Branch Creek. The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services is assessing the spill; no injuries were reported.  WYFF

HEALTH NEWS

  • Spartanburg health officials reported that the measles outbreak has grown to 876 cases—with a new infection in Sumter County—and free vaccinations will be offered Friday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church (520 S. Daniel Morgan Avenue).  Go Upstate
