ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • About 20,000 gallons of diesel leaked from Kinder Morgan tanks near Plantation Road on Feb. 1, contaminating Four Mile Branch Creek; EPA and Kinder Morgan crews recovered roughly 15,400 gallons so far (cleanup continues) as they monitor air safety.  The Post and Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Greenville tax experts advise delaying tax filing as new federal rules may change deduction amounts. The Department of Revenue will update guidance once the General Assembly sets state conformity rules (including changes to standard and senior deductions), and the filing deadline remains April 15.  WYFF

HEALTH NEWS

  • Prisma Health now requires masks for patients and visitors in emergency and birthing centers, following a measles outbreak in Spartanburg County that has become the largest in the U.S. in 25 years. The rules began Feb. 5 to protect vulnerable patients & control the spread.  Go Upstate
