ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ New BLS data shows that grocery prices rose 2.9% in January, with coffee, steak, and ground beef increasing while eggs and tomatoes dropped in price (BLS report). Spartanburg residents can use a grocery calculator to see how these changes may affect their bills. WYFF
- ➤ A study by the South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce revealed that the state's $300B manufacturing industry, driven by a booming auto sector & strong population growth, supports about 750,000 jobs. Gov. McMaster noted every 10 auto jobs create 35 more roles that boost local work. Go Upstate
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A county judge ruled (Feb. 13) that the 120-foot Confederate flagpole on Teaberry Road near I-85 violated county land-use rules and must be taken down. The decision follows a Jan. 29 rejection of the Sons of Confederate Veterans' appeal. Go Upstate
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ State health officials report 17 new measles cases that bring the total to 950, with 186 people in quarantine pending release on March 8. The Department of Public Health will offer free MMR vaccines Friday, March 3 at Grace Community Church in Spartanburg. WYFF
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ The Cliffs recorded a 21% rise in 2025 home sales as renovations added pickleball courts, wellness centers, and new sports amenities across its seven communities (including a new Sports Pavilion at Mountain Park).
