  • Mary Black Foundation awarded ($1,315,000) to 22 nonprofits to boost healthier pregnancies, births, and early education in Spartanburg. The grants focus on services from housing stability to quality early learning for families.  Spartanburg.com

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A Consumer Reports study from March 4 showed that Costco offered grocery prices 21.4 percent lower than Walmart’s. The USDA said food prices will rise 3.1 percent this year, prompting local shoppers to compare deals at Aldi + Lidl.  Go Upstate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tri-County Technical College confirmed its veterinary technology program is stable despite the department head's resignation on March 2, and it assured students will finish the semester with hands‑on live animal instruction starting March 24 — officials noted that full staffing and accreditation standards remain in place.  WYFF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Spartanburg should set clocks forward one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8 for daylight saving time. Experts advise adjusting sleep gradually (by going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night) to ease the change.  Go Upstate
