- ➤ Duke Energy explained that some customers are receiving higher bills now due to increased energy use during January and February winter storms. The company advises customers to use Payment Assistance Finder or call 211 for local help. WYFF

- ➤ Bradford pear trees will soon bloom across the area, releasing a strong odor that reminds locals of their invasive nature (the trees have been banned from sale since Oct. 1). Go Upstate
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lawmakers killed a bill on Mar. 4 that would have removed the religious exemption for the measles vaccine for public school and higher education— a measure aimed at curbing rising measles cases. In Spartanburg County, exemptions doubled to 9.6 percent since last school year amid heightened public health concerns. The Post and Courier
- ➤ The FAA is seeking a builder for a new air traffic control tower at GSP in Greer, with work set to begin this year and a contract expected to be awarded mid-2026. The tower will cover 17,868 sqft on 12 levels (including a TRACON system) to boost safety and efficiency. The Post and Courier
