EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Cherokee County School District has remained offline since a network security breach was discovered over the weekend, and Monday classes did not use district technology. Officials said students and staff must avoid connecting devices while the investigation continues with help from the Sheriff’s Office, SC Law Enforcement, and the FBI.  WYFF

FINANCE NEWS

  • Truliant, a top 100 U.S. credit union, announced the opening of its first Spartanburg County branch at 2241 Boiling Springs Rd. in Boiling Springs. The new 3,206-square-foot branch features a modern design—ample parking, 24-hour ATM access, a station with games for children—and employs bilingual Spanish-speaking staff.  Spartanburg.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • After beating Furman to win the Southern Conference championship on Sunday, the Wofford Terriers men's basketball team earned their first NCAA tournament bid in six seasons. Coach Dwight Perry (in his second season) said the 15th-seeded squad will face the 2nd-seeded Tennessee Volunteers on Thursday in Lexington (Ky).  Go Upstate
  • Furman basketball, holding a 25-9 record, will face No. 2 seed North Texas in the first round of the NIT tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET at UNT Coliseum in Denton, Texas—Furman will try to earn its first NIT win as North Texas, the 2023 NIT champion, seeks to continue their strong play.  Go Upstate
