ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ South Carolina gas prices rose to around $3.65 per gallon on March 23 as a 51-cent jump followed tightening supplies from a global fuel crisis while state averages remain below the national near $3.95. Officials say that emergency measures may soon help stabilize costs as the conflict abroad affects oil shipments. Go Upstate
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wofford College trustees selected John Paul 'Jay' Dowd III as the new president, with his term set to begin July 1 — he brings 13 years of higher education leadership from The Citadel Foundation and strong ties to campus culture. Go Upstate
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At a Monday night council meeting, Spartanburg officials proposed moving the historic downtown clock tower to anchor the Barnet Park promenade (with names of its 1970s builders planned for display). Public comments will be accepted for three weeks and reviewed on April 13. WYFF
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ South Carolina baseball named interim head coach Monte Lee following the departure of Paul Mainieri. The program announced staff changes on March 23—moving Chris Gordon to on-field assistant coach and reassigning Stuart Lake to player development—as it prepares to face North Carolina today in Charlotte.
