  • Hub City Hospitality, owners of Willy Taco, FR8yard and FlockShop, acquired Venus Pie Pizzeria at 400 E. Main St. in downtown Spartanburg. The new owners will keep the restaurant's menu and staff while planning a carryout program and modest updates with James Vigil as general manager.  Go Upstate

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The wildfire at Table Rock State Park in Pickens County continues to burn after igniting on March 21 and has scorched over 1,000 acres while crews work to control the blaze amid heavy Highway 11 traffic and smoky conditions—voluntary evacuations remain in effect for nearby residents. Multiple agencies have used backburn operations and water drops to slow the fire's spread as the public is urged to steer clear of the area.  WYFF
  • Wildfires burned across the Upstate as the Table Rock Fire consumed about 1,000 acres and the Persimmon Ridge Fire burned more than 200 acres while western North Carolina fires forced evacuations and burned over 4,600 acres as of March 23—an active burn ban remains in effect.
