Good morning, Spartanburg.

The Table Rock wildfire, allegedly started by four teenagers on March 21, has grown to 4,556 acres with 0% containment and led the Pickens County Sheriff's Office to issue evacuation orders while reviewing charges for violating a burn ban—fines up to $200 for a first offense and at least $500 for later offenses.

Kristin Turney, 54, of Catawba, was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison and one year of supervised release after she embezzled over $1.7 million from a small family business between 2016 and 2023 — she was ordered to pay restitution of $1,754,204.13.

Greenville, Oconee, Spartanburg, and Pickens counties are under a Code Yellow air quality alert—while Anderson County remains at a Code Green.

Wildfires in northern Greenville and Western North Carolina have burned thousands of acres—forcing evacuations and prompting sensitive groups to limit outdoor exposure.

Work will begin this fall on a 200,000-square-foot, five-story joint city-county government facility in downtown near Morgan Square and the former city hall.
