ECONOMY NEWS

  • Conservation Voters of South Carolina report that the proposed Canadys power plant in Colleton County could drive up electric bills + risk economic burdens due to construction delays and rising costs. The Public Service Commission will review the plan by June.  Go Upstate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, OneSpartanburg, Inc. & Spartanburg Academic Movement will launch a certified nursing assistant training program for 32 participants in June to meet workforce needs. A hiring event is set for April 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m. at 700 N. Pine St.  Spartanburg.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State lawmakers held off approving the new state song 'Carolina When I Die' after concerns were raised over its lyric - songwriter Patrick Davis said he will revise the line about senoritas to address worries over its influence on kids.  Go Upstate

SPORTS NEWS

  • Voting for Upstate Ingles high school boys athlete of the week remains open until noon April 2, with fans invited to choose finalists who excelled in baseball, lacrosse, soccer and track during contests from March 23-29.  Go Upstate
