ECONOMY NEWS

  • U.S. gas prices jumped to an average of $4.02 per gallon on Tuesday due to the Iran conflict and supply chain disruptions; Spartanburg drivers may soon face higher pump costs if the trend continues.  WYFF
  • On Tuesday, Mar. 31, AAA reported South Carolina gas prices at about $3.70 per gallon, up nearly $1 from last month amid global tensions that restricted flows through the Strait and pushed diesel prices higher.  Go Upstate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Voters approved a $400 million bond Tuesday for School District 6 to add two new elementary schools, one middle school, and renovate current schools to handle growth (District Six Superintendent Ken Kaiser said the district is near capacity).  WYFF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TODAY co-host Craig Melvin returns to Wofford College for a candid conversation with former mayor Rahm Emanuel at Leonard Auditorium today at 5 p.m. The free event requires no tickets and will cover the political climate along with Emanuel’s future plans.  Go Upstate
  • Emergency crews responded to an incident at the BMW battery plant in Woodruff Tuesday evening — officials have not yet released further details.  WYFF

HEALTH NEWS

  • The South Carolina Department of Public Health reported no new measles cases since Friday, keeping the count at 997. Officials say the outbreak will end on April 26 if no cases occur and urge schools to boost vaccination coverage (many are below 95% herd immunity).  WYFF

SPORTS NEWS

  • Dorman baseball (13-1, 6-1) beat Byrnes (11-4) 5-3 on Tuesday, Mar. 31 at their home field and moved 1.5 games ahead for first place in Region 2-5A.  Go Upstate
