- ➤ The South Carolina State Chili Cook-off will take place next Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until about 3 p.m.—offering amateur and professional cooks a chance to qualify for the world championships while supporting six local organizations, with tickets available at $5 for five tastings or a $20 wristband for unlimited samples. - ➤ Tulip, an almost 4-month-old mix that was featured as Pet of the Week on Monday, is now available for adoption from Spartanburg Humane Society at 150 Dexter Road. She is spayed and microchipped, and the $195 adoption fee includes +six nights of boarding at Southport Kennel, five days of daycare at Hounds Town, an engraved tag, and six months of heartworm prevention+. - ➤ South Carolina drivers will need to have a REAL ID with a gold star by May 7 to use it for boarding domestic flights, entering secure federal facilities & visiting military bases. - ➤ Early voting for the Hilltop Fire District special election will be available on weekdays until April 18 at Spartanburg County Registration and Elections at 366 N Church Street from 8:30 a.m.—5 p.m. Polls will open on election day, April 22, from 7 a.m.—7 p.m. to fill the unexpired term for fire district commissioner.
