ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lake Hartwell is at 653.42 ft due to a severe drought, so officials warn residents not to burn outdoor items because fires can spread quickly. A cold front will bring rain later, but water levels have stayed below average with past lows seen in 2008 (637.49 ft was recorded).  WYFF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials received 137 emails after proposing in an April 13 meeting to rebuild the downtown clock tower near Barnet Park; some residents suggested placing it in front of the new county courthouse (which city staff have not discussed with county leaders), and no timeline has been set.  Go Upstate
