COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wofford College senior Joe Khalil will run 50 miles today through downtown and along the Mary Black Trail to raise funds for the local soup kitchen + Miracle Hill. Check-in begins at 10 a.m. with the race starting at 10:30 a.m. as community members join a campuswide day of service.  WYFF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spartanburg officials plan to reduce the four lanes on East Main Street to three with added bike lanes and pedestrian crosswalks. Public feedback will guide final plans before resurfacing begins in the next several weeks (no new construction is planned).  Go Upstate

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials confirmed a measles case in Saluda County (linked to international travel) but reported no public exposure as the person’s vaccination status remains unknown. Thirty-four people who were exposed have been notified and advised to quarantine.  WYFF
  • A healthcare provider in Saluda County reported a new measles case on April 17 that officials say is linked to international travel rather than to the outbreak centered in Spartanburg County from October, and authorities are confirming vaccination status for 34 possible exposures (a detail that may help with precautions).  Go Upstate

SPORTS NEWS

  • Coach Dawn Staley added Texas transfer Jordan Lee to bolster guard depth for the team following last season's injuries & WNBA departures. Lee, a 6-foot junior who averaged 13.2 points, is expected to ease pressure on younger players as the SEC season unfolds.  Go Upstate
