CULTURE NEWS

  • Over 50 family-friendly concerts, festivals & sports events are scheduled in the Upstate in 2026, with shows by George Strait, Lil Wayne, and Thomas Rhett planned across Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson. EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Thursday, Apr. 23, OneSpartanburg, Inc. announced EDGE—a unified work-based learning brand to boost internships, apprenticeships, and other career experiences for students in Spartanburg. The program is part of OneSpartanburg’s ongoing community development efforts.  Spartanburg.com
  • Kela Stewart, a 6th-grade Social Studies teacher at Abner Creek Middle School, was named Amazing Teacher of the month on April 23 after being nominated for her creative approach to teaching history (and support for student council and fellowship programs).  Go Upstate

FINANCE NEWS

  • Capital One will send automatic settlement payments around July 21 to SC account holders who maintained a 360 Savings account from Sept. 18, 2019 to June 16, 2025. Payments are calculated based on the interest rate difference with a 360 Performance Savings account & are part of a $425 million settlement.  Go Upstate

HEALTH NEWS

  • Spartanburg health officials expect the measles outbreak to end on April 26 if no new cases occur—contact tracing and a surge in MMR vaccinations, including a 139% increase locally, helped slow the spread that led to 21 hospitalizations.  Go Upstate

SPORTS NEWS

  • High school track meets held April 21-22 crowned county champions in Greenville, Spartanburg + Tri-County, with Upper State events scheduled May 8-9 and state championships set for May 15-16 in Columbia.  Go Upstate
