  • Spartanburg High School is hosting its first Vikings Vendor Market today with more than 40 indoor vendors and several food trucks onsite—proceeds will support Teacher Appreciation Week, senior celebrations, teacher supplies and the car closet in preparation for upcoming events. Vendors include students, faculty, retired faculty, district employees, alumni, parents and community members.  WSPA

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 35-year-old man from Boiling Springs died on April 24 after being hit by a car in the parking lot at the BMW Manufacturing plant in Greer on April 14—he was taken to Spartanburg Medical Center, a forensic exam is scheduled for Friday and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.  WSPA
  • BMW Manufacturing confirmed that employee Chris Pedraza, 35 from Boiling Springs, died on April 14 after being struck by a car in the plant parking lot, with the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office verifying his death— the company is providing grief counseling for affected staff.  WYFF

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Walmart announced it will upgrade 33 stores in South Carolina—introducing new signage, expanded departments and a reimagined pharmacy with private screening areas, including select locations in the Upstate. The company said the changes will also boost online pickup and delivery to better meet customer demand.  WYFF

CRIME NEWS

  • Wellford City Police Department is searching for two Hispanic males linked to crimes in Greenville and North Carolina + officers are using K-9 teams near the Walmart Distribution Center at Highway 129 + anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately.  WSPA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Spartanburg is offering free swim lessons this summer for beginners as part of Water Safety Month. Lessons will run from May 12 through May 15 at the Dr. TK Gregg Community Center on 650 Howard Street, with several afternoon sessions and registration required.  WSPA
