- ➤ Spartanburg Community College named Ashley Tinsley and Roxana Arias as 2026 Christopher A. Calhoun Scholars today, awarding each a $1,000 scholarship for fall term in recognition of their academic excellence, leadership, and service (as noted in the All-USA Academic Team Competition). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ During the Senate budget debate, lawmakers discussed $828M in tax breaks given last fiscal year to seven data centers; the Department of Revenue must now report the total to budget writers (a new requirement) amid criticism that the benefits favor big companies over residents. Spartanburg.com
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Today, the South Carolina Department of Public Health declared the measles outbreak over in the Upstate by noting that 997 cases occurred from October 2025 through March, with the last case reported on March 15 and 42 days without new cases confirming the end of the transmission chain. WYFF

- ➤ After three sold-out Banana Ball games in Greenville on April 26 showcased nonstop dancing and fan contests, tickets have sold out for the upcoming event at Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg from Aug. 6-8 where the Clowns and Texas Tailgaters will entertain local fans. Go Upstate
