  • Country music star Cole Swindell will headline the first concert at downtown Spartanburg’s Fifth Third Park on June 5 at 7 p.m. as part of the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX—tickets start at $34—while the James Radford Band and Gritty Flyright will also perform.  Go Upstate

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Representatives Neil Collins and Justin Bamberg called for an independent investigation into the April 11 firing squad execution of death row inmate Mikal Mahdi—attorneys dispute that the execution followed proper protocols. They said the inquiry will examine why two executioners reportedly missed his heart and voiced concerns that similar issues could prompt future legal challenges.  Go Upstate

  • Eligible seniors in South Carolina will receive five $10 checks for a total of $50 to buy fresh produce through the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program starting June 1.
