  • Local attorney Valerie Fulton appeared on Jeopardy! on Friday, May 15 after a month of studying with flash cards and buzzer practice, fulfilling a lifelong goal and honoring her late mother's memory while making her hometown proud.  WYFF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport plans to replace its 1962 air traffic control tower later this year — a move that will support terminal expansion with new gates and amenities — and the project is slated for completion by 2030.  Go Upstate
  • Governor McMaster ordered flags on state buildings to be flown at half-staff on Friday, May 15 to honor law enforcement officers killed or injured in duty+ the move was part of Peace Officers Memorial Day during National Police Week.  Go Upstate

SPORTS NEWS

  • Upstate high school boys showed strong performances at the SCHSL track championships in Columbia from May 14 to May 16. Standouts such as Spartanburg’s Torrean Davis and others won in events including the long jump and 110 hurdles — a week of top results in state competition.  Go Upstate
  • At the SCHSL girls track and field state championships (held May 14-16 in Columbia), Dorman's Rebecca Okebe won hurdles and the 400 meters while Spartanburg's Riley Vaughn triumphed in the shot put and discus, spotlighting top high school talent.  Go Upstate
