Upstate leaders celebrated the official ribbon cutting of the new Pet Resource Center on Southpoint Road in Spartanburg County.

The $24.6 million center, funded by American Rescue funds and built with over a decade of county collaboration, now offers animal adoptions, foster care and medical services — and is hiring staff.

Spartanburg County Parks & Recreation opened free splash pads at Tyger River Park (Duncan) and Va-Du-Mar McMillan Park (Boiling Springs) on Saturday, May 16.

They operate daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to provide families a cool outdoor option.
