ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Spartanburg County coroner responded to a crash on I-26 westbound from exit 44 to exit 51—where a tractor-trailer and an SUV collided—and all lanes were blocked.  WYFF

CRIME NEWS

  • A Spartanburg woman named Nyaisa Shanice Foster sent text messages with threats such as 'You going down' and 'We also have your address' to an ATF informant during a federal investigation into drug and money laundering activities linked to the Red Mafia Family—she was ordered confined to jail pending trial.  The Post and Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright resumed his role Tuesday morning after being on leave since April—his department confirmed he is now back at work.  WYFF
  • On Monday, the Spartanburg County Council approved a new ordinance that requires dog breeders to secure licenses from Animal Control and mandates property inspections while limiting the number of dogs aged 4 months or older to 25 per property. Violations will incur fines up to $250 and sales on public or commercial properties will face fines up to $500 — the measure aims to curb irresponsible breeding and address issues with puppy mills.  Go Upstate
  • Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright asked SLED to investigate Sgt. Tracy Moss after firing her for alleged misconduct—though no evidence was found—and Moss later sued the sheriff’s office for wrongful termination while an FBI probe into Wright’s actions continued under Chief Deputy Billy Parris’s leadership—adding to ongoing lawsuits from other former officers.  The Post and Courier
