- ➤ Spartanburg police responded at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday after a suspect stole a running car from the Hot Spot gas station, hit a bystander’s vehicle at the Collins Avenue & Georgia Street intersection, and shot a woman in the thigh; she was treated at the hospital & the stolen car is a 2011 silver Honda Pilot as officers seek any leads. - ➤ Spartanburg will unveil the new Southside Cultural Monument on June 14 at 10 a.m. near Mary H. Wright Greenway Park at the corner of South Converse Street + Hudson Barksdale Boulevard, with leaders and a Wofford College art professor set to speak. The Post and Courier

- ➤ South Carolina has passed a law banning stores from selling kratom to anyone under 21. The law requires clear labels—including product origin and ingredients—and fines retailers $1,000 for first violations, rising to $2,000 for repeat offenses. WSPA
- ➤ David Britt left his Spartanburg County Council seat on May 20 to join the South Carolina Public Service Commission, causing a special election for his District 3 seat on November 4; candidates may file from 12 p.m. June 6 to 12 p.m. June 14 for a fee of $741.51 + primaries will be held on Aug. 5 if needed.
