  • Guthrie's Golden Fried Chicken Fingers will open its second South Carolina location in Greer tomorrow at 2 p.m. at 1308 W. Wade Hampton Blvd—featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an eating contest between Riverside and Greer high school football teams while serving a simple menu daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Go Upstate

CRIME NEWS

  • Spartanburg police say on Sunday after 1 p.m. they found a white man dead next to an open U-Haul truck near the Valero gas station on John B White Sr. Boulevard—items like a mattress, a purple bra and a cell phone were nearby as officials call the death suspicious.  WYFF
  • Spartanburg police investigated an employee at Spill the Beans who was tricked into transferring thousands after a scammer posing as a police officer instructed her to empty registers, tip jars, lock box, and withdraw cash from her bank – the owner declined to press charges as the investigation continues.  WYFF

  • On May 26, Parella’s Pals featured a raccoon art piece titled 'Rocky Raccoon’s Starry Night' by Olive Cook from Mauldin Elementary School.  WYFF

  • Spartanburg County Senator Josh Kimbrell (R) said that even though former Sheriff Chuck Wright resigned Friday due to health concerns amid ongoing investigations, the sheriff’s office will continue serving the community with a new interim sheriff and trusted deputies.  WYFF

  • The Hub City Spartanburgers announced that they will retire Jake Burger’s No. 21 jersey at Fifth Third Park on July 29 as part of Baseball is for Everyone Night. The ceremony honors Burger’s effort to raise awareness for Down syndrome—supporting his family’s foundation.  Spartanburg.com
  • USC Upstate baseball earned the No. 4 seed in the Clemson Regional after winning the Big South Championship on May 24 at Truist Point in High Point. The team, now on a six-game win streak, will face Clemson first in the double elimination tournament — its debut NCAA Tournament appearance.  Go Upstate
