- ➤ Saluda Grade Trails Conservancy purchased a 31.5-mile rail corridor on June 17 from Norfolk Southern for $28.5 million — the group plans to turn the unused track into a recreational trail running from Inman to Zirconia. They will now raise money for planning, design, and construction — with hopes of linking the new trail to local systems like the Daniel Morgan and Ecusta trails. WSPA

- ➤ Former bookkeeper Jennifer Bengston Cook from Greer was sentenced on June 18 to three years in federal prison and ordered to pay nearly $2.3 million in restitution after stealing from SSRC Inc. in Duncan—leaving the company with a large tax bill and added financial burdens. The Post and Courier
