CRIME NEWS

  • A Chesnee neighborhood that worked to beautify a roundabout at Peachtree Road and Bible Church Road was hit by vandalism when a black truck did donuts at 1:45 a.m. on Saturday — neighbors have offered a $500 reward for information — and a new security camera with facial recognition will be installed soon.  WSPA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, South Carolina drivers must comply with the hands-free driving law that prohibits having a cellphone touch any part of the body while driving except to report an emergency—drivers can still use Bluetooth devices for calls and navigation. Officers will give only warnings for six months until ticketing begins on March 1, 2026.  The Post and Courier
  • Easley Combine Utilities reports a water leak at Lenhardt Road that is causing local water outages—crews are working and repairs are expected to finish in 2 to 4 hours.  WYFF

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, in the Virginia Tech season opener, South Carolina football star Dylan Stewart left the field before halftime with a shoulder injury—while cornerback Judge Collier sprained his knee, is on crutches, and did not return to play.  Go Upstate
  • Frank Beamer, father of coach Shane Beamer—honored ahead of the season opener against Virginia Tech in Atlanta—read a pregame prayer and took selfies with fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.  Go Upstate
