- ➤ A man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted an employee at Tobacco and Vape at 435 East Main Street, and officers later found him hiding in a motel bathroom—he surrendered after verbal commands and is now booked with pending charges. WYFF
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Spartanburg will host 10 live shows this September as comedian Jerry Seinfeld performs at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium on Sept. 19 and events like Rupaul’s Drag Race Werq The World Awards (Sept. 6) and a Fall Oyster Jam Benefit (Sept. 25) are scheduled along with concerts at Fretwell and FR8yard through Sept. 27. - ➤ Award-winning singer Grace Pettis will perform songs from her latest album at Fiddle and Bow Music Hall in Honea Path on September 7; doors open at 2:00 p.m. and the show starts at 3:00 p.m. Tickets cost $20 — Merlefest Song Contest winner Anya Hinkle will open the event. Go Upstate
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Upstate woman Megan Ploch will host Fall for FARA at the Pelham Falls Clubhouse in Greer on September 20 from noon to 4 p.m. to raise awareness for Friedreich’s Ataxia—a rare disorder affecting one in every 50,000 people—with food, music, a silent auction and a cornhole tournament planned. WSPA

- ➤ The SCHSL released the full South Carolina high school football schedule for Week 2, which has a game today featuring Tennessee School for the Deaf at SCSDB and many matchups scheduled for Friday, Sept. 5—teams from across the state will play on the NFHS Network.
