- ➤ Communities in the Upstate, including Spartanburg, are hosting many events to honor 9/11 victims with memorial walks, stair climbs, softball games and races — a tribute to the past — while planned events on September 7 and September 11 at venues in Landrum, Belton and Clemson aim to support local emergency services — uniting residents in remembrance. This series of commemorations brings people together in a unified effort to remember those lost in the attacks. Go Upstate
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Meteorologist Grace Lowe explained that vibrant fall foliage will appear at higher elevations starting early October—sunny days, cool nights, and rain boost the colors—and trees in the Upstate will begin changing by mid-October. Despite tree loss from Hurricane Helene, Western North Carolina is expected to show beautiful colors. WYFF

- ➤ Dorman volleyball hosted its first game during school hours on Sept. 5 at Dorman Arena—drawing over 3,000 students—and defeated Lexington 3-0 in a rematch of last season’s final, with coach Kirkland saying the electric crowd helped the team handle pressure for future playoffs. Go Upstate
