  • A remembrance event was held in Six Mile at the Semper Fi Barn on September 11 — bells rang in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11. Veteran Larry Timmerman and other attendees recalled the tragic moments as news clips showed people running from the towers — a memory that tied the community together.  WYFF
  • Spartanburg native Celia Weston — a veteran actress with over 40 years in TV and film — plays the mother on Netflix’s sitcom Leanne, which was picked up for a second season with no set date yet.  Go Upstate

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Several SC governor candidates have posted on social media after Greenville County teacher Wynne Boliek was placed on leave from Southside High School while the district investigates her post about Charlie Kirk's death—Pamela Evette, Nancy Mace, and Ralph Norman have all weighed in on the matter.  WYFF
  • Special primaries will be held on Oct. 21 to fill a State Senate vacancy from Sen. Roger Nutt’s resignation and a State House vacancy after Rep. Bobby Cox suspended his campaign — four candidates will appear on each ballot. Early voting runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 6-17 — residents must register 30 days before using online or local options.  Go Upstate
  • Officer Diego Pizarro—a former dancer, DJ, and voice actor—recalled that his family moved from Colombia when he was 12 and a teacher’s advice helped him discover his talents, which led him to leave Boston and join Spartanburg police at age 40—bringing his life experience to handling unpredictable calls.  WSPA
