- ➤ A Colorado-based aerospace manufacturer called Woodward Inc. will invest $196 million in Spartanburg County and create 247 full-time jobs when it builds a plant on 8201 Reidville Road in Greer. County officials approved a 40-year fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreement that lowers the tax rate from 10.5 percent to 4 percent and gives Woodward a $3.25 million credit over four years—details that set up this major project. - ➤ Walmart opened its new 725,000 square foot perishable distribution center in Wellford that employs over 600 workers to receive and process fresh produce, eggs, dairy, meat and frozen goods for 180 stores. - ➤ A WalletHub study finds that residents in red states face more financial distress than those in blue states, and South Carolina ranked No.5 with an overall score of 56.49—based on measures like credit scores and deferred payments using data from June 17th. - ➤ South Carolina public safety officials are enforcing a crackdown on distracted driving with Operation Keep Us Safe— a weeklong initiative that began on Monday and involves DPS, Highway Patrol, and 46 county sheriffs and police chiefs— by targeting violations of Hands-Free and Slow Down, Move Over laws after a rise in dangerous incidents that injured or killed officers, including First Class Trooper Dennis D. - ➤ Governor McMaster has issued Executive Order 2025-31 today directing the Division of State Human Resources to update telecommuting policies, setting new rules for state employees that include eligibility based on one year of satisfactory service and a limit of two telecommuting days per week—agency directors and executive staff are not permitted to work remotely under the new guidelines.
