GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On October 8, Spartanburg settled a lawsuit with Support the Spartanburg Clock Tower to keep its downtown clock tower safe. • Spartanburg’s largest surface parking lot on Kennedy Street permanently closed Sunday to allow construction of a planned joint government building, and the city says about 275 parking spaces will be lost in the next two years. City officials said free two-hour parking in downtown garages with over 3,300 spaces will ease the transition — the new garage at the government building will add about 700 more spaces in two years.  WYFF

HEALTH NEWS

  • South Carolina health officials are monitoring a measles outbreak with 10 confirmed cases since July that includes cases in two schools in Spartanburg County. • Bon Secours said it will become an out-of-network provider for Humana Medicare and Medicaid patients if talks do not resolve the reimbursement dispute by Jan. 1, 2026—affecting 16,245 patients while two Greenville hospitals remain in-network and emergency services will continue.  Go Upstate
