COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local food banks in Spartanburg are preparing for a federal shutdown that may stop SNAP benefits next month—forcing more families to seek help. Middle Tyger Community Center is urging neighbors to donate essentials like cereal, soups, and canned vegetables to ease the growing need.  WSPA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Harrison’s Work Wear now offers fresh warm layers including boots, hoodies and jeans for the whole family with new arrivals each week—customers can also join the upcoming events with Chuck or Treat at Fifth Third Park on Wednesday and a live broadcast with Tigers for Tatas merchandise for Clemson fans on Friday between noon and 3 p.m.  WSPA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Spartanburg residents will see November’s astronomical events when the biggest and brightest supermoon, known as the Beaver Moon, will peak at 8:19 a.m. on Nov. 5th. Two meteor showers—the Southern Taurids and Leonids—will also peak mid-month.  Go Upstate

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Greenville weather forecasters warn trick-or-treaters to bundle up as a cold front will bring heavy rain and gusty winds Wednesday—rain is expected to clear before Friday, leaving temperatures in the 40s in the Upstate and the 30s toward the mountains.  WYFF

HEALTH NEWS

  • Robin Wilson was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and underwent chemotherapy, hair loss, and a double mastectomy. She later rang the hospital bell to mark her recovery — her journey and volunteer work with Dabo Swinney’s All in Foundation inspire others to get regular checkups.  WYFF
  • Canada has recorded over 5,000 measles cases this year, putting the nation at risk of losing its measles elimination status while the United States and other countries face similar dangers. South Carolina health officials are urging increased MMR vaccination as free clinics operate amid reports of 22 measles cases in the upstate region—experts warn that low vaccination rates leave communities vulnerable.  WYFF

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Savannah Bananas world tour will visit several South Carolina cities in 2026, with games in Conway on March 28—29, Charleston on April 10—11, Greenville on April 24—26 and Spartanburg on Aug. 6—8 at Fifth Third Park. Fans must join the lottery by Oct. 31 on the team’s website to have a chance to purchase tickets.  Go Upstate
