COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Spartanburg’s Hatcher Garden will open the Altrusa Adventure Trail in early 2026 to let children explore their five senses through a tunnel, balance beams and other play features — adults can also use the trail for yoga and forest education.  The Post and Courier
  • McDonald's restaurants are offering free breakfast combos in honor of Veterans Day today for veterans and active military members who show their uniform or military ID. The offer — including a hash brown and a medium drink — is available only during breakfast hours at participating locations.  WSPA

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new report from OneSpartanburg, Inc. shows construction projects in Downtown Spartanburg since 2017 will impact the county with $1.77 billion and 13,706 jobs. Clemson University researcher Bob Brookover found Spartanburg hotels have a 71% occupancy rate — and two new hotels will open soon or begin construction to meet rising demand.  WSPA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today is Veterans Day, a federal holiday when banks and post offices are closed—most grocery stores remain open while local restaurants offer free meals and discounts to veterans and active-duty military.  Go Upstate

HEALTH NEWS

  • On November 2, the South Carolina Department of Public Health reported that an infected person with measles visited Kanpai of Tokyo at 2300 Winchester Place in Spartanburg from 3 to 6 p.m.—those without immunity should monitor for symptoms like cough, runny nose and red eyes through November 23.  WSPA
  • A newborn boy was safely surrendered under Daniel's Law at a Spartanburg hospital on November 6—he was born on November 4 weighing 4 pounds, 1 ounce and measuring 16.1 inches long. Spartanburg County DSS took custody of the infant, who remains in the hospital for further care, and a hearing on parental rights is set for December 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the Spartanburg County Family Court.  WYFF

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Kara is a three month old mix ready for a forever home and available for adoption at the Spartanburg Humane Society at 150 Dexter Road — she has been spayed and microchipped and her adoption fee of $195 covers six nights of boarding at Southport Kennel, five days of daycare at Hounds Town and an engraved tag from Paisley Paw with six months of heartworm prevention.  WSPA
