  • A lottery player in Spartanburg won $242,000 Tuesday by matching all five numbers on a Palmetto Cash 5 ticket bought at Sai Mart at 498 Blackstock Rd—this win is South Carolina’s 33rd jackpot and the ticket rolled 12 times before matching the winning numbers. The winner has 180 days from the drawing date to claim the prize.  WYFF
  • Spartanburg city leaders installed a 38-foot-tall deodar cedar Christmas tree in Denny’s Plaza on November 12, 2025—its lights will turn on at 7:30 p.m. on December 2 during Dickens of a Christmas celebration.  WSPA
  • A Place To Call Home started in March to help Spartanburg’s 3,000 homeless people get permanent housing by offering support such as job training and plans for a low-barrier shelter. Local leaders are expanding safe housing options with projects like Bridgeway Village for women and small families—part of a goal to cut homelessness by 10%.  The Post and Courier

  • UPS, USPS, and FedEx have announced shipping deadlines to ensure packages arrive by Dec. 25—carriers will not operate on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day.   • BMarko Structures announced it will relocate to Williamston and create 225 full-time jobs. The company will move into 134 Long Rd — a step that confirms strong demand for manufacturing space along the I-85 corridor, according to Justin Patwin of Farpoint Development.  WYFF

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • With colder weather approaching, Spartanburg residents are urged to prepare their homes and cars by stocking up on shovels, ice melt, and insulation while checking tire pressure and tread for safe driving—Consumer Reports experts advise these steps to help prevent damage and ensure safety during winter storms. The advice comes as a reminder to act now before the full impact of winter weather hits.  WYFF

HEALTH NEWS

  • Medicare Part B premiums will rise by over 11%, increasing monthly costs from $185 to more than $206 in 2026 and affecting over 1 million residents. Investment advisor Chris Barton urges beneficiaries to review their annual notice of change before the December 7th open enrollment deadline — missing it may lock in higher expenses.  WSPA
  • Brinlee Cannon, a 13-year-old from Salem who needed a new heart, has received her transplant and her checkups have been good. Her family will return home by Christmas—supported by a united community.  WYFF
  • The South Carolina Department of Public Health reported 8 new measles cases that raised the outbreak count to 43 and said 13 people are in quarantine and one is in isolation—6 of the new cases are from household members. The Mobile Health Unit offered free MMR vaccines on Nov. 12th and will operate today from 12-4 p.m. at Lyman First Baptist Church.  WYFF
