BUSINESS NEWS

  • Today, SC Works Greater Upstate hosts a FedEx hiring event at the Spartanburg Center on Commerce Street — free parking is available at the Dunbar Parking Garage for the first two hours — as the company seeks seasonal part-time package handlers for early morning and overnight shifts starting at $17.75 an hour with potential full-time opportunities after training.  WSPA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Earth, Wind & Fire is coming to the Upstate next year to perform at the CCNB Amphitheater at Heritage Park in Simpsonville on April 29, 2026—tickets will go on sale November 21.  WSPA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Henry McMaster announced Monday that South Carolina will lower or maintain its unemployment insurance tax rates for 2026, saving employers $40 million in UI tax costs compared to 2025. The S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce said rates will range from 0.06% to 5.46% based on each business's past claims — the state continues to support a competitive business climate.  WSPA

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Greer couple hosted a fundraiser on November 18 at Rigsby's Classic Rock Cafe on West Main Street in downtown Spartanburg to raise funds for a gene editing procedure intended to treat their two children who have a rare genetic disorder that causes seizures—if successful, the funds will allow both children to be treated as part of a sibling study.  WYFF
  • South Carolina health officials reported five new measles cases, increasing the Upstate total to 49 while 84 people were in quarantine. Officials warned that upcoming holidays might raise exposure risks—leading to a strong surge in MMR vaccinations in Spartanburg County in October compared to last year.  WYFF

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Furman University and the Northside Development Group completed a study that showed a 70% rise in property prices and a risk of gentrification on the Northside. The group will use the findings to plan steps that protect longtime residents and help homeowners build equity — while planning for new development in the area.  The Post and Courier
