COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Spartanburg County officials are asking residents to report any remaining curbside debris from Hurricane Helene cleanup after a voicemail sent to over 350,000 residents brought in 350 responses in less than 24 hours. Officials reported more than 1,000 additional responses from summer outreach — noting that skilled volunteers and proper equipment are needed — as the county expects full recovery to take at least three years. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Magic of Lights holiday event returned to Hollywild Animal Preserve with over two million lights and South Carolina’s longest light tunnel— the display began November 21 and will run until January 3. Tickets cost $12 per person. WSPA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Greenville Transit Authority was awarded a $3.3 million federal grant to add four new compressed natural gas buses for the Greenlink SkyConnect project that will connect downtown with Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. The new routes could begin as early as 2027 — the exact downtown stop has not been determined yet — helping replace older diesel buses and reduce emissions. WYFF
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ South Carolina health officials confirmed measles in a GSP airport employee who worked Nov. 10 and 11 from 9 a.m.—7 p.m. and in a churchgoer who attended the Way of Truth Church on Nov. 7 and Nov. 9; people exposed are advised to monitor for symptoms through Nov. 30 at the church and Dec. 2 at the airport. The department reported 137 people are in quarantine and one is in isolation and announced a mobile health unit will offer measles vaccinations on Nov. 24 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. WYFF
