ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, conservation partners including the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Heritage Trust Program dedicated the Woodcock Woods and Spence Pond additions—protecting over 65 acres of vital habitat for the endangered bunched arrowhead and securing a stream corridor for linked public lands.  Spartanburg.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • In early November, the Department of Public Health opened a measles vaccine pop-up clinic in a Spartanburg library parking lot—yet it saw very low turnout amid an outbreak that left over 50 cases and 130 people in quarantine. Officials said low vaccination rates and vaccine misinformation worsened the outbreak and warned that increased travel for the upcoming holidays could raise exposure risks.  Spartanburg.com
