  • A Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold at QuikTrip #1126 (2313 Reidville Rd) on Monday, Dec. 15 in Spartanburg. Ticket holders have 180 days to claim their prize and matching odds are 1 in 913,129.  WYFF
  • Mobile Meals of Spartanburg delivers 1,300 hot meals daily to residents but faces volunteer shortages — CEO Laura Boles said she plans to use online scheduling and review service changes over the next few years.  The Post and Courier

CULTURE NEWS

  • Multiple festive events promise holiday cheer in Spartanburg and across the Upstate. On Dec. 18, downtown will host a Holiday Sip and Shop event from 5 to 7 p.m., while the 2025 Holiday Artisan Market runs through Dec. 27 at Solomon Gallery (578 W. HEALTH NEWS

  • State health officials report nine new measles cases in Spartanburg County, including five linked to an exposure at Way of Truth Church in Inman and additional cases connected to a home and Berry Shoals Elementary; officials noted that vaccination rates have dropped below 90 percent in several local schools.  Go Upstate
  • Health experts are warning of a new flu variant subclade K that has reduced vaccine effectiveness and increased flu cases abroad, with monitoring in South Carolina today. They advise everyone to get the seasonal vaccine to protect against the strain.  Go Upstate

  • Historic textile mills in the Upstate are being turned into apartments, stores, and restaurants. Local experts discussed the mills' past and how these changes give new life to the landmarks.  WYFF

  • Four high school football players were named to the overall SCFCA All-State team for the 2025 season as announced on Dec. 16. The honorees from the Upstate include Belton-Honea Path's Jakyri Anderson, Dorman's Kentavion Anderson, Spartanburg's Will Love & Gaffney's Zyon Ratchford.  Go Upstate
